Kodo is Coming Back!
Rev. Kensho Furuya Sensei's writings and books have touched thousands of martial artists around the world. His book Kodo: Ancient Ways went through many printings before going out of print — and has been nearly impossible to find since. We are working to bring his writings back.
Rev. Kensho Furuya
Rev. Kensho Furuya (1948–2007) devoted his life to the traditional way. He founded the Aikido Center of Los Angeles in 1974 and was 6th Dan Aikikai, 6th Dan Kyoshi in Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido, and he was an ordained Zen priest. He wrote the widely popular book Kodo: Ancient Ways, penned the column Ancient Ways in MA Training magazine, and his articles were featured in every popular martial arts magazine of his time. In Furuya Sensei’s dojo, he taught that the dojo was not a gym but a place to forge the spirit. Through his classes, his writings, and his video series, he has shaped students around the world — many of whom still consider him their teacher.
